Theo Pike

Theo Pike enjoying some grayling fishing

Theo Pike is a freelance advertising writer first and a small-stream fly-fisher second – though it's sometimes less clear-cut than that suggests.

Having hooked his first trout on the Bray in 1991 under the tutelage of master-speycaster Simon Gawesworth, he spent the next few years waving several different sorts of sticks as a skier and competitive rower, before returning to fly-fishing with a vengeance and an enduring love of the mountains.

By way of contrast, he’s now also deeply involved in regenerating lowland chalkstreams. As a Trustee of the Wandle Trust, he’s taking a lead in restoring South London’s River Wandle to its former glories as the chalkstream fishery where Frederic Halford first learned from the locals how to cast a dry fly.

He's also Senior Vice President of the Wandle Piscators fishing club, and can be contacted via his website at www.blackrussian.cc
