Fly Fish Radio

Vertical chest pack

If your computer has speakers, and a post 2000 web browser, then you can already enjoy all the video and audio media available through the internet. However, like everyone else you probably have to trawl through a whole load of garbage before you get to something you actually enjoy, something of real quality. Fly Fishing Radio is one of those gems. A website, in fact a blog, that is actually worth your time.

Produced by two new-media designers Wylie Thomas and Mike Overton, both knowledgeable fly fishers, together they offer a little light reading, followed by some pretty good radio broadcasts. Actually, I should use the term podcasts (see notes), because this is pre-recorded material.

Some time ago the BBC stopped broadcasting 'Fish on Five' and there's been a dearth of worthwhile angling radio available on the web ever since. I've heard the occasional item of interest but found few reliable sources.

Fly Fishing Radio steps into the field with authority. These guys have interviewed some of the significant figures in fly-fishing, including Lefty Kreh, Dave Whitlock, Mike Lawson and Jack Dennis. Covering topics from nymphing for trout, fishing smallmouth, and fishing conservation, to name a few, Wylie, Mike, and their guests put together some very interesting shows.

The broadcasts can be listened to directly through your computer browser, using iTunes, or another media player, or with a standalone MP3 Player. For instructions on how to listen to their shows, visit the Fly Fishing Radio homepage where Wylie and Mike provide instructions.

Happy Listening!
